We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer / Systems Engineer to complement our Deployment Operations Team. In this role, you will build, improve and manage our automations and deployment infrastructure, to ensure the reliability, resilience, availability and observability of our product.
GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Previous working experience: 5+ years in the DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering field

  • Working hours: 40hrs/week

  • Working Location: Remote EU/Berlin

  • Reports to: Senior Director, Services Delivery Engineering

  • Desired start date: As soon as possible

YOUR CHALLENGE AT WIRE

Be ready to play a key role in our Deployment Operations team. You will work closely with the  Cloud, Infrastructure & Operations team and other teams regularly. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploy and run our Backend services in customer environments on Kubernetes.

  • Support our customers with operating our backend services on-premise (incl. air-gapped) and deploy on-prem-like staging environments on VMs/Bare-metal platforms for our internal QA processes

  • Automate our infrastructure deployments and management with IaC (using Kubernetes, Terraform, Nix, Ansible, Concourse, GitHub Actions and others)

  • Ensure services are up and running for our customers 24/7

  • Work on Open Source code, contribute to various upstream projects

YOUR PROFILE
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Operations, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles

  • Proven track record of managing Deployments on and of Kubernetes based Platforms using Infrastructure as Code

  • Passionate about designing, building, and debugging distributed and scalable systems

  • Strong Linux background, including the ability to analyse and troubleshoot OS-level and networking issues

  • On-premise deployment / operations experience

  • Experience in automating containerized builds and deployments

  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following programming languages: 

    • Haskell, Rust, C, Java, Go

  • Hands-on experience with most of the following: Kubernetes (Operators), Terraform, Helm, Nix, Ansible, Systemd.

  • Have worked with many different virtualization and containerization platforms, including at least Docker, KVM, LXC

  • Have a proven track record of working with Open Source / Free Software communities.

  • Experience managing observability and monitoring with e.g. Prometheus, Loki, Grafana

  • Experience debugging network issues using packet capture tools

  • Has a Solid understanding of modern software-development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, DevOps, GitOps, etc.).

  • Experience managing Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis or RabbitMQ is a plus

  • Interest in statically-typed functional programming languages is a plus

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
